Pinot Noir and truffle weekend a success

Late July this year saw a group of truffle and pinot lovers converge in Launceston to delight in the joys of these culinary wonders for a weekend of indulgence!

Starting off this weekend of indulgence was a tasting of a selection of the finest Tasmanian Pinot Noirs alongside their makers at The Pinot Shop with the illustrious Michele Round. Truffle lovers then strolled across the road to Stillwater for a menu laden with truffled delights from amusee bouche to dessert also matched to some delightful wines artfully chosen by Sommelier James!

The next morning a small select group pulled on their wellies to go truffle hunting at Australia's premium trufferie, Tamar Valley Truffles, just 10 minutes up the road. This select group of truffle hounds....and a dog.... searched out these elusive black diamonds of the mushroom world. Imagine a group of adults kneeling on the ground sniffing the earth and prizing those gems from the delicate soils. On returning to Stillwater buzzing with excitement Chef Craig Will showed them how to cook with this prized ingredient and get the most from this expensive treat.

We had such a positive response we will be running it again next year so if you missed out this time just let us know by signing up for our newsletter or The Pinot Shop's and we will put you on our contact list for next year!
